Daste School. Toulouse
The monolithic architecture, pure and clear, redefines public space with authority. By lifting the building the ground floor is freed to locate two playgrounds and ensure maximum transparency between public space and the inner courts, allowing inner activity to be visible for the pedestrians. The entire building will be built in red concrete to resemble the red bricks used in Toulouse city centre. The building layout recalls the cloisters of the monastic architecture. They are sometimes tangent to the corridors, in other places to the lecture rooms in order to bring rythm and depth to the project.
