The disappearance of a football ground in Palamós created an emptiness which opens up great opportunities for the town, but also a wound in need of healing. The project includes a large underground car park, the new Town Hall building, a services building for Citizen Affairs and the design of an expansive public space.
The proposal refuses to construct a building to then construct an empty space, the square.
Hence the construction of a ceramic lattice wall, which will link the individual buildings and rear courtyards and cover all the party walls, eventually peeping its head out onto Avenida Catalunya. Behind this screen will be the planned Town Hall and Citizen Affairs buildings.
The wall shapes the frontage of the new public space whilst also doubling back and moulding to spatial circumstances; on ground level, for example, by opening up to let the existing streets pass through and also constructing a arcade at the most emblematic part, just as traditional squares have always done.
A system of cables houses the street lighting and also canvas awnings for the hot summer months to guarantee shade and airiness.
